New Books are brewing!

I'll be taking part in the Contemporary Artists Book Fair again in March and as time is forever ticking i've decided to make a start on some designs and begin printing. The raccoon I drew for the refugee council flyer is back again as i've re-invented him as part of a concertina book - and his little pal too!

Other books i'm contemplating printing will involve, comedy pets doing dress up, and some circus based or Noah's arc type of affair - guess will just wait and see how the drawings come out!

I've been asked to produce a print as a wedding present so i've been busy screen printing this delightful lady for the occasion - hope they like it!

Book on the horizon!

New print underway!

I just love doing lino cuts! Here's a sneak peak of a new little one i'm currently working on....2 colours down, one to go!! I'm printing the final layer with my students in class, can't wait to see it.

The papercutting frenzy continues...

I think i've become slightly obsessed with perfecting my scalpel skills, i just can't stop. Hopefully get a chance to print some of these this week - whoo hoo!

My Christmas cards are now all printed and have been dropped off at Leeds Craft Centre and Design Gallery this weekend. So should be for sale in there in the next few weeks! Still feels far too organised having finished my xmas cards in October, Valentines Day things to think about now....

Patterns underway

Getting ready for the start of term!

The new academic year kicked off this week so it's full steam ahead getting ready for workshops in the coming weeks. Been busy tweaking and putting together old images I can use for some screenprint classes. Here's a selection of the examples i'm gonna get my students to print - hope they like them!

The holidays are coming...

Ok, so that's not strictly true as they're ages off yet but i'm busy cutting and and printing cards for various stores over the festive period. Kinda weird though thinking of cold toes and festive treats when the weather is still so warm and lovely. Will post up the full range when they're all finished.

Rob Ryan inspired papercuts (which incidentally gave me massive finger ache to produce!) - now existing in colour as screenprints. Happy days. . .

'The Stalls' this Saturday!

I'll be exhibiting at the Town Hall in Leeds this Saturday as part of 'The Stalls' arts and design fair. There you will find hand made goodies of all varieties from jewellery and bags to cards and chocolate! Come down and see us! For more info see the below flyer.

New Stockist in Ilkley, West Yorks!

The lovely 'Cakewalk' in Ilkley, West Yorkshire is now stocking a selection of my cards, tags and prints (framed and unframed). Located inside 'Arcade at 7a' - a selection of boutiques and small businesses situated along Railway Road just off Brook Street - this fab little shop sells a great selection of handmade goodies from clothes and jewellery to papergoods and artwork. Open monday - saturday 10-5pm. 

Leeds Met Gallery Show - 'On Your Wall 09'

My mac decided to die on me - hence my web absence - but all is well now as I have a shiny new one hurrah! So i'll be posting updates of forthcoming events to get you up to date. Firstly, I'm exhibiting at Leeds Met gallery next weekend as part of their 'On Your Wall' exhibition. There will be lots of affordable art for sale so if you fancy popping down and making a purchase or just fancy a look at some great things get there either Sat 4th or Sun 5th July 12-4pm, or if you fancy sipping some wine at the opening and saying hello then friday after 5 is where it's at!

New cards

I've got 10 new designs sorted now - some of which should be available to buy from the Craft Centre and Design Gallery in Leeds in the next couple of weeks and also a few new stockists I'll be informing you of soon! - exciting times.

Finally got around to beginning photographing some of my printed books - not sure if I like them in black and white but you get the idea!

It's raining today...

...which is not helping me feel any better as I'm off work sick. Hopefully pottering about putting some new cards up on Etsy will help my return to fitness and stop me feeling sorry for myself! 

'Forest' prints

As it's the easter holidays and I've been taking lots of beautiful walks in the countryside, I've been working on a series of all-over prints inspired by the woods near my parents home. I need to finalise my colour palette yet but here's a taster!

New work in at Dean Clough!

I've another new stockist for my work over in Halifax, West Yorkshire. The design shop at Dean Clough will be stocking prints, cards and gift tags and should be available for you to see (and buy!) in the next few weeks.

Blimey what a busy week!

What with lots of things coming up on the horizon I thought i'd better pull my finger out and do some work this week! So, i've been revisiting old friends and bulking out my print portfolio - here are some of the results! Hope you like them.

Badges

All the first set of badges have nearly sold out! I'll be posting the last few up on etsy this weekend and then thinking about getting the next set sorted and sent for printing! The little sausage dogs will be definitely making an appearance. . .

'The Stalls' Saltaire fair today!

Thanks to everyone who came and saw me in Saltaire today! I met some great people and made some good contacts too which is always nice. Below are some quick snaps I took of the stall - and to think I thought I wouldn't have enough work - pah!

Papercut flyer!

A rather fiddley papercut flyer i've made for the forthcoming Saviours gig at the Brudenell in Leeds. There'll possibly be some screen printed versions available at the show if I get time to make some...fingers crossed! 

Mothers Day event

I'll be flying solo for my next fair, exhibiting at 'The Stalls' in Saltaire on Mothering Sunday. The stall will be selling cards, badges, books, prints, tags, so there's bound to be something you can treat your mom (or yourself!) too.

Books!

So, the Leeds Artist Book-fair is looming - 6th / 7th March - and i'm really busy now trying to make enough items for our stall. Last weekend 'We Have Beaks' (Myself, Sarah Mitchell and Ruth Viqueira) had a meeting about our stall and now I'm really excited about how it's going to look and all the beautiful things the others are gonna make. As soon as we have a nice sunny day I'll take some more photos of what i've made so far so you can see them - for now here's a sneaky peak...

A cute little reduction linoprint I've been working on of late. Part of a series I think I'm going to produce to do with 'transport'. Think hot air balloons, bicycles and definitely more little boats!

Valentines day ideas

Love is in the air. . .well kind of. Been thinking about valentines day cards today, as well as easter designs, paper cuts I want to make and books to print and bind - does my brain ever stop coming up with things for me to do! As much as I keep thinking I should try to incorporate more motifs other than birds in my work I don't seem to be able to help it - they're just so cute!

Alphabet prints

I've been trying to organise myself over the festive break so that when I get back into the studio in the new year I can be as productive as I can. My first project of 2009 will be to screen print some alphabet books in various colourways for the Artist Book Fair in March. I want at least two differently illustrated letters so the clock really is ticking - will hopefully get them onto screen in the next 2 weeks - can't wait to go and do some printing!
